On this page you will find everything you need to help you on your class journey.

The Facility

Located in the beautiful boreal forest on the shore of North Cameron Lake, the facility boasts a warm welcoming ambiance. Log buildings accommodating large groups and include sleeping mats, tables and chairs and a stocked kitchen.

A resource building contains a classroom suitable for indoor study and activities.

Recreation Equipment is available for student use.

Fees

SD 60 Student Fees

Day Rate - Arrival and departure on the same day, duration greater than 3 hours.

$5/student

Overnight Rate - Any booking that encompasses 7pm-11am the following morning.

$10/student

Generated electricity  hours >2 hours.  $10/per hour there after


Firewood is $10 per day.

Penalties

Please Note: If your school group is 25 students or greater, you will be sent an invoice with a a damage deposit request. This fee will be returned to you after your stay providing that the facility and equipment are in clean, undamaged condition.

  1. Visitors are expected to leave the site, buildings and equipment in the same condition (or better) than they are found. Your group’s school will be charged a relative fee if facilities are left in an unsatisfactory condition. (There is no janitorial staff on duty)
     

  2. There is a $50 Cancellation Fee if cancelling within 2 weeks of upcoming booking.

As the fees have not changed in over 30 years, you may see updates to the fees as we update and improve the facility and program.

Fill out the booking form requesting your desired dates. An email will be sent confirming your booking and include further details about your visit.

General Responsibilities

  1. The school principal is responsible for reviewing your activity plan in advance of the booking form submission. 

  2. Student consent and medical information forms must be submitted to the school principal prior to the trip. 

  3. Permission forms must include notice of any/all personal risk activities planned, such as canoeing, challenge course, archery and bouldering wall.

  4. Ensure that there is one adult to every 10 students. Your class will be split into groups and each have an adult leader (Not including Coordinator).

  5. There must be at least one First-Aid Person in your group (Other than Coordinator)

  6. There must be one vehicle remaining on site during you stay. (Not including Coordinator’s vehicle)

  7. Water at times is not available for potable use. Please plan bring drinking water with you. Students are required to bring enough water to last a full day.

  8. Visiting groups are responsible for the cleaning duties for the duration of their stay. Fees may apply. (There is no janitorial staff on duty)

  9. Be sure to bring containers for leftover foods to return with you. Borrowing kitchen items from the facility is not permitted.

  10. Please prepare to take all garbage and recycling with you when you go. There is a fee in place and applied if rubbish is left behind.

Shower House *NEW*

Located between the dormitories. Two separate entrances, each with two private shower stalls. 

Only opened for students groups if staying 2 nights or more.

Classroom Exploration Box

Supplementary learning activities, games and lesson plans designed to bring the Cameron Lake experience to the classrooms.

  • Read the lesson descriptions and choose the Explorer Box you'd like to share with your classroom.​

  • ​Fill out the online form, selecting your choice.

 

Your Explorer Box Will Arrive Through The School Mail!

 

You will have one week to explore the box.

When finished, ensure all items are returned to the box, close it up securely and submit it to your school office.

The box will be returned to the Coordinator through the school mail.
